Fundraising
We have had two fundraising events, raising a combined total of around £100! Our bake sale outside the student cinema was a huge success, and we had a very festive (and very cold) bucket collection outside the Christmas markets in York.
Training
Our funds allowed us to hold two training sessions. The first was a 6 hour emergency paediatric first aid course which provided valuable training, making all in attendance more confident to act in an emergency. Our second course was a Makaton training evening, allowing volunteers to learn important skills to aid communication with some of our children.
Sessions
Our sessions have continued to be fun and engaging for volunteers and children alike. As well as our normal sports sessions, we have also collaborated with the dance society, to provide some jungle themed fun! We ended the term with a fantastic Christmas session, featuring pass the parcel! Half way through the term, we appointed a new committee member to coordinate our sessions at Hob Moor Oaks P.E. club, so we could continue our partnership with this amazing school.
Socials
KEEN has held two socials for volunteers this term, organised by our Volunteer and Media Officer. From a fun games night (with pizza) to an Italian meal in York, we hope our new volunteers have enjoyed their time with KEEN so far!
Social Media
Our social media presence has also grown through the use of facebook, and of course the creation of this blog, which allows us to connect directly with parents and volunteers.
New Faces!
Most importantly, this term has seen us welcome five new families to the project! We look forward to seeing these new faces again in the new year and welcoming many more.
